ACE raises over £6k for hospitality charity, The PM Trust

Over 140 guests, helped raise vital funds for The PM Trust at the Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) Charity Dinner at 113 Chancery Lane on Tuesday, 8th November, 2022.

The ACE Charity Dinner is traditionally held annually but this was the first time it’s taken place since 2020 due to the pandemic. This year, the ACE committee, which is chaired by, Sarah Prentice, sales and marketing director from Blue Apple Catering, has chosen to support The PM Trust. The charity aims to make hospitality the career of choice for young people. They also encourage and assist workers to further their training and development within the hospitality industry.

Funds were raised by holding a raffle and auction which included some incredible prizes such as entrance and afternoon tea at Kensington Palace donated by CH&Co, a tasting menu for two at The Loch & The Tyne donated by Adam Handling and a bottle of Le Gavroche Gin.

A starter of cauliflower, lime gel, coconut purée, ginger crisp, toasted seeds was served. This was followed by pistachio-crusted English lamb, pressed belly, ‘Cannelloni’ of foraged mushrooms, winter truffle, pine nut purée, roast pepper gel, heritage carrot & potato terrine, and minted lamb jus. A dessert of ‘sideways’ orange & saffron tart, pickled end-of-season blackberries, white chocolate and meringue completed the menu.

Chair of ACE, Sarah Prentice said: “It was fantastic to bring together a room full of caterers to our charity event once again. Everyone was extremely generous because we have chosen to help such an important charity that invests directly back into our industry. The work of The PM Trust has never been more important as they aim to showcase what a wonderful industry this is to work in and support workers to fulfil their careers in it. Thank you to all our amazing sponsors, as without their support we wouldn’t have been able to raise this amount of money. And, to Graysons who created some stunning food. Plans are already underway for our next networking events in the spring which include our International Women’s Day lunch and the popular ACE Quiz.”

Ruston Toms, Chairman of The PM Trust commented: “We are extremely grateful to ACE for choosing us as their nominated charity for this event and thank you to all the guests for being so generous with their donations. As a small charity, we rely so much on the support of those working in the industry to help us make hospitality the career of choice for young people and assist them with furthering their training and development by providing bursaries and grants. Nights like this are so important in helping us to continue our vital work.”

Hospitality, catering, venue and event management business, The Smart Group were headline sponsors of the dinner to ensure as much money as possible went to the charity. The event was also supported by British Premium Meats, Graysons, KFF, Bidfood, Ellis Wines, Allens and Real Drinks Company.
